Hay Rake Electrical Requirements – Information Bulletin

Subject: Hay Rake Electrical Requirements

Complaint: Hay rake wings will not extend with selector switch in ‘Extension’ position. Wing ‘Angulation’ operates as required.

Cause: Electric solenoid selector valve, located on the hay rake, is not receiving the required 12 volt supply required to switch the ‘Extension’ function. Without 12 volts only the ‘Angulation’ feature would be operational.

Correction: The hay rake hydraulic valve solenoid requires a 12 volt power supply protected to 30 amps to operate. This power supply is sourced from the tractor via the 7-pin connector (A). Pin 7 (C) will need 12 volts (Switch box is protected with an internal 5 amp fuse). Pin 1 (B) is a tractor chassis ground. Pins 2-6 are for ‘Light’ functions.

Parts Needed: The specific tractor will need to supply the correct 7-pin outlet kit with power supply if needed. Many existing 7-pin outlets are wired for ‘Lights’ only. An auxiliary wiring kit may need to be acquired to add this power source to an existing 7-pin outlet.
